I updated my live site to EB5 after testing on a local server. I was somewhat hesitant because of all the php errors I got on the live site last month, but this install has no errors.

Now to my problems:
1. I had (under the previous version) a latest blog post on the home page that would link to the post in the actual blog itself. With EB5, clicking on the home page blog link just replaces my "Who Said What" with the blog post. In other words, you stay on the home page without jumping to the blog itself. The "read more" link did jump to the blog, but after messing with the settings, that stays on the home page also.
2. All my Komento links under the "Who Said What" section say Unable to load article details... in com_easyblog

I am impressed with the updates you have done with EB5. There is a ton more functionality to it, but I think that's my problem. I can't seem to get the settings right for my needs.
I got smacked about a month ago when I updated the live site to EasyBlog5. You would think I would of learned a lesson about direct updates on the active site. Now, I have "two" bruises upside my head........ I updated Komento and got the image below. A complete wipe-out of my site.

I have restored it "again" with Akeeba to a state before EB5 and the latest Komento.

I will NEVER again do an update without trying it out on a test server. I'm very concerned about what is going on with your products. If both EasyBlog and Komento updates have destroyed my site, I will be extremely concerned about doing any updates in the future. I might just have to use the outdated versions from now on.

Hello Mark,

Please replace the attached file in: ../modules/mod_easybloglatestblogs/mod_easybloglatestblogs.php and see if this fix the first issue. If the issue is still there, you can provide us your FTP access.

As for the Komento issue, I've checked your site and seems like you are using outdated version of Komento. You might want to upgrade Komento to the latest version (2.0.2) which has EB5 compatibility.

I tried the Komento update on a test server with a duplicate site with EasyBlog 5 already installed. I got the same Red 400- Unable...... message.

I just want you to know, because this is a BIG issue if people can't update their sites.

Hello Mark,

May I know if your issue has resolved? Or you are still having the 400 error? If you do, you can re provide your backend access and FTP so we can check on that issue.

With a failure on both the live site and the test site, I will not be upgrading to EasyBlog5 nor Komento2. I'm not sure what my next move is going to be, but I can't risk doing an update that endangers the site.

I'd be willing to send you the latest Akeeba backup and let you duplicate the site on your own server to possibly see what is going on.

Hey Mark,

I am really sorry that delay of this reply,

It would be best if you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access rather than send us with your latest Akeeba backup, so we can help you solve this quickly. We are sorry that caused you inconvenience.

Look...... I've tried this on two windows systems. One a Windows7 computer with XAMPP and the other on Windows 2008R2 server. The test sites on those systems completely crap out, when the Komento update is installed. The site's front-end either displays the 400 message or is blank completely. On the windows server system, the back-end is rendered useless also.

My live site is on a Linux server with Bluehost. I already know that the EasyBlog update "does" install, but as previously mentioned, my modules are messed up. I followed your advice and installed the Komento update on the live site and...... it rendered it useless. That was all mentioned above.

If it weren't for Akeeba, a couple of years work would of been destroyed (as I've already found out, Bluehost's backups are useless).

I cannot risk "testing" on the live site. I can give FTP access for you to build one on your server from a backup or.... give you access to my server and let you experiment with the test site on there.

Hey Mark,

I am really sorry that delay of this reply,

That would be good ideas if you can build a test server for us, so that we can test update in your test server and see everything is it work or not.

Looking forward of your response.

OK..... After trying the Komento update one more time, the test site became unusable again. I rebuilt it with Akeeba.

You'll have to access the server via Remote Desktop. The information on IP and user/password have been placed under the "Site Details" tab.

A file with the test site's address, your user and password have been placed on the desktop next to the three StackIdeas extension folders. A path the the site's file on "C" drive is also mentioned.

Please feel free to experiment however you need. I'm getting quite good a rebuilding the thing and it's not that big of a problem if you destroy it also.

As a note: The EasyBlog 5 update seems to go OK even though it screws up some of my modules. It is the Komento update that causes the problems.

I going to have to rebuild the live site's home page and it's not like the live site is getting that much traffic anyway.

I would be surprised if you haven't done this before, but all windows computers have a Remote Desktop program. Linux computers can have similar programs KRDC or Remmina.

My credentials to access the server were stated above. I respect StackIdeas professionalism. I have given you complete access to my live site's folders and admin sections before. You performed the required work and promptly exited. Now.... I'm giving you access to my server. All the required information is in the Notepad file on the desktop. You should be able to access the backup site and experiment with both it and the files, which I also gave the path to. I already know you'll have issues when you install Komento....... I just want you to try and figure it out "before" we mess with the live site.

Hey Mark,

I just came across your post and I am really sorry to hear the issues that you are facing. EasyBlog 5 is a major upgrade and I have to admit that there are indeed some teething issues on sites that are upgrading from EasyBlog 3.9 or older. We're trying our very best to get all of these issues sorted out as we troubleshoot customer's sites.

We don't have enough "sample" data to ensure a smooth sailing upgrade because the EasyBlog 5 installer needs to cater for upgrades from EasyBlog 3.7, 3.8 and 3.9. The tricky part here is that, all these 3 major versions has different ways of storing data which was why we standardized this in EasyBlog 5.

I hope that you would give me a chance to assist you with your issues that you are facing and I personally would assist you with upgrading your test sites first.

I was able to install EB5 on my test site. There "are" some quirks, but they can be worked around. My problem is with Komento. I was told the newest version of Komento is needed to work with EB5. Every time I installed the Komento update on the test site...... everything will lock up. The front end is blank and the back end has holes in it also.

I provided the information to access my server. All the info needed has been placed in a file on the desktop. I wish that you would try a Komento update on my test site. I would like for you to see it for yourselves. You are free to go into the files as needed. If you can figure out what is going on with my test site, maybe it would be helpful for others that might use your products.

As previously stated, there is a file located on the desktop named "stackideas" with all the needed information.

I bookmarked the test site's admin link in Opera browser.

Hey Mark,

I am sorry that delay of this reply,

May i know how do you revert back your Easyblog 5.x to Easyblog 3.9?

The reason why you hitting this issue is because all the Easyblog 5.x folder is still exist on your test site, so when you load the page the system still calling the Easyblog 5 file.

So what i did is uninstalled the current Easyblog component in your test site, then install back again Easyblog 3.9x version.

Then it work fine now. Can you give it a try now?

OK... I can see where you have updated Komento to the latest version. So, to make things complete (all extensions updated), I updated the test site to EB5. The test site is now unusable again. The back-end seems to be intact, but the front end gives me the "red - 400 - Unable to set as revision as current revision on post." for my home page.

This is what I'm talking about. I would like to keep all StackIdeas extensions up to date, but I've seen this about six times as of late. One wipe-out of the live site and five tries on my home server with test sites.

There is "something" going on when both EasyBlog and Komento are updated to their latest versions.

I'm going to leave this latest test site in a failed condition so you can see it for yourself.

(As I messed with the site after the EB5 update..... I found most of the internal pages working normally.
As an example: http://192.168.1.19/rr1/forum/index
The blog and community sections are also working..... the problem seems to be only with the home page. If this is a module compatibility issue, would it knock out the "whole" home page?? I could possibly see some php errors on certain homepage modules, but not the whole page.)

After messing with this awhile, I've found the issue is "not" with either the latest EB or Komento updates. It is with my extremely poor homepage layout and the modules and positions I have selected. I have unpublished selected modules and I am able to restore sections of the home page. This is going to take a total redesign of my home page.

For now, please let this problem rest, because it is clearly "my" issue, not yours.

Alright Mark, keep us updated then if you still hitting this error " 400 - Unable to set as revision as current revision on post.", the most probably you hitting this is because the revision table is not stored correct value.

OK...... after some serious experimentation, I think I've narrowed the problem down.

As stated above, the EB5 update on the test site installs fine, although there are some simple corrections I can make in the admin section for my needs.

"The" problem I am having on the test site (as I'm not willing to alter the older Komento version on the live site) is the Komento update. More specifically, the "Komento Activities Module." I use this module on the home page of my site.

When the "Select Component" is left alone from the update, I get the red screen shown above. If I select EasyBlog, I get "components\com_komento\models\activity.php on line 152". If I select "Articles", everything works fine.

This is beyond my scope when we're down to the PHP level, but it seems the problem is in that area.

Remember, I getting this problem on both the live and test sites, so we're not talking a server specific issue.

Please take a look and let me know.

So all you did was disable that one comment???

I would like to update the live site, but I'm still somewhat confused as to how "one" comment is giving me all these problems.

Can you explain further.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for getting back to us quickly, actually I already do explained on my screenshot at below.

I open this comment listing page from your test site backend > Komento > comment > check all the comment and see which comment do not have `article title` then i disable that comment.

Why disable that comment it work fine is because now Easyblog 5 all the post will always related with the revision id. When you view on your homepage, the system can't find out this post so hitting this error : 400 - Unable to set as revision as current revision on post.

So I disable this comment, it work fine. (maybe this post already get removed from database or what, because if you delete the post from backend, the system will check if you delete this post, all the comment related this post will be get removed as well).

Perhaps you can try check on your live site and see how it goes?

Would you be willing to update the live site to the latest EB and Komento?

I would prefer if you did rather than I.

I was able to update both EB and Komento. I did not get the red failure box with this install and I haven't messed with any Komento comments. The one mentioned above is still published.

I'm going to just call this good without digging into the comments and deleted the one in question.

This problem had me very concerned. I learned quite a bit and I wanted to thank you for your help.
