When I try to add a new blog post from the front end, it gives a 500 error upon hitting the "publish" button. It has been working fine though.
Hello Clint,

After spending several hours checking on your site, it looks like this issue is because your hosting provider may have some security addons in place that prevents form submission from part of your contents below:

<p>People sometimes complain of the smoky agave characteristics and sharp finish. For some, tequila is enjoyed an ingredient to the famous "Margarita" or people often think of "shots" of tequila, followed by grimacing and squinting of the eyes. Well, this is one tequila that will make tequila lovers swoon and critics change their tune. only the best of the Weber blue agave plant, Patron's Burdeos is a luxury añejo and is aged for a minimum of 12 months in new American and French oak barrels. After a second distillation, it is racked again, but this time in specially-selected vintage Bordeaux wine barrels from France.</p>

You should check this with your hosting provider because very often these security mods are preventing forms from being submitted due to specific keywords used.

Hello Clint,

I've tried to access your backend but I don't have this access details: http://screencast.com/t/LRIzzx1BDLtG . By the way, Did you use Facebook autopost? If you did, you might want to check your facebook app setting or revoke and re-authenticate it and see how it goes.

Sorry about that, it is an .htaccess password. I updated the site details. We are not using the Facebook autopost.

Hello Clint,

I've made a test post from your frontend and I don't hit any 500 error upon pressing Publish. Did I missed anything? Please advise.

Sorry for the delay in getting back, I was out. We are still getting the 500 error. It fails with both admin and super users. There is a draft post that we are trying to use. Here is what are trying to posted:

<p>Tequila is one of those things that people love or hate, the latter typically coming from some reaction to over-indulgent college experiences they would love to forget. Bad tequila has also made people weary of this complex and flavorful spirit.</p>
<p><img style="margin: 8px; border: 1px solid #000000; float: right;" alt="Ice Ball Review of Gran Patron Burdeos - The Whiskey Ice Co-" src="images/blog/reviews/Ice_Ball_Review_of_Gran_Patron_Burdeos_-_The_Whiskey_Ice_Co-.jpg" height="200" width="200" />People sometimes complain of the smoky agave characteristics and sharp finish. For some, tequila is enjoyed an ingredient to the famous "Margarita" or people often think of "shots" of tequila, followed by grimacing and squinting of the eyes. Well, this is one tequila that will make tequila lovers swoon and critics change their tune. Selected from only the best piñas of the Weber blue agave plant, Patron's Burdeos is a luxury añejo and is aged for a minimum of 12 months in new American and French oak barrels. After a second distillation, it is racked again, but this time in specially-selected vintage Bordeaux wine barrels from France.</p>
<p>The color is dark amber and the taste is so velvety smooth and sweet that if it didn't say "Patron" on the bottle, you would likely never know it was even tequila. It is the definition of a true "sipping tequila," as the flavors slowly develop with the ice ball, transitioning from oak, almost whiskey-like notes, into raisin and vanilla. What is surprising is that the typical sharpness of pepper and smoke that usually comes from blue agave is virtually absent; making this one of the smoothest tequilas once can drink.</p>
<p>The elegance of the palate is carried on to the packaging – with each lead-free crystal bottle coming in what must be the most elaborate box ever seen; a box handcrafted from a single piece of black walnut, which doubles as a display case for the bar, complete with a custom cork screw and crystal stopper.</p>
<p>Aroma: Rich Bordeaux, vanilla and dried fruit<br />Taste: Rich, fruity with wood notes and berries<br />Finish: Exceptionally smooth, silky and subtle, with a short finish on the palate</p>
<p>Verdict: Priced at $500-600/ bottle, it is ultimately not something everyone will have an opportunity to try, which is a shame because it is a wonderful example of how good tequila can be. If you have the means and opportunity to purchase a bottle, buy it now – if not, find a bar where you can enjoy a taste.</p>
<p>Remember to always enjoy responsibly.</p>
<p>Cheers.</p>

Hello Clint,

Did you do a maintenance on your site? I'm not able to access your site while making a test post. Please advise.

Try posting this as in the HTML editor by disabling the editor so it is not being posted as HTML. I just posted it here as html so you could see everything that was in the post.

HI Nick,

I see that someone from Stackideas did a test post because it emailed me. You need to me a little more specific about what you mean by " I'm not able to access your site while making a test post." since you were obviously accessing the site when you made the post. If you are referring to accessing the admin area, do you mean that your credentials are not working or you are not able to get to the admin area (htaccess password protected)?

I posted the htaccess passowrd a couple of posts ago, but I added it again in this post.

Thanks!

Hello Clint,

I have tried debugging this issue on your site, however, your site somehow blocking our access to your site. Can you contact your hosting provider to add our IP address: 121.121.31.217 into the white-list on your site?

Please be advise.
Thanks.

it looks like you triggered mod_security since the IP is from Malaysia. You are good now, I whitelisted you.

Thanks

Thanks, just an FYI, we found that mod_security was being triggered when we had longer posts with images embedded. It sometimes completed the post (sometimes not) but gave the 500 error. We wrote a rule to allow the action with mod_sec and it is working well now. Thanks again.
