Hi guys and gals,

For my up-to-date EasyDiscuss category I've set up a menu item by the "Single Category Layout" type and, obviously, set up for this menu item an alias. The URL that I see in the browser, when I click on this menu item, has a format of mysite.com/2016-09-18-04-56-07/ask-us, the "ask-us" being the alias of the menu item.

My question is: how can I get rid of the "2016-09-18-04-56-07" URL bit and replace it with the ED category name please? I played under "Search Engine" -> General -> Advanced Settings -> Routing behavior with the three available options, but all to no avail.

Cheers,

Alex
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

May i know is it one of the menu alias call '2016-09-18-04-56-07'? If yes, it would be best if you can put this `ask-us` to standalone menu item.

If the issue still persists, can you update Joomla backend access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can better have a look?

Hi Arlex,

Thanks a ton for replying on a weekend. I really appreciate that.

Not really. The "2016-09-18-04-56-07" bit in the URL has been added by EasyDiscuss. I didn't create it myself. Joomla usually creates similar bits in its URLs if you don't enter an alias in a page menu item but this is not my case, - as I said in my first post, I did create an alias.

I now entered the site URL and its Joomla super user credentials for you as you asked. Please have a look and, once again, huge thanks for your out-of-hours support.

Cheers,

Alex

Hey Alex,

I've checked in your current menu structure, it seems like this menu alias '2016-09-18-04-56-07' is coming from this menu item "Ask for Help" (External link), you can check my attached screenshot below.

By the way, currently that was not possible to get rid of this parent menu item alias if you put this `Pre-sales Questions` menu item under this "Ask for Help" menu item.

What my suggestion is :

1. Change this "Ask for Help" (External link) menu alias to better name e.g. 'ask-us' , then change this `Pre-sales Questions` menu alias to 'question'. So the full URL will be https://site.com/ask-us/question

2. Change this `Pre-sales Questions` menu to standalone menu item. So the URL will be https://site.com/ask-us

By the way, It seems like you are use translator license asking for support, we are no longer providing support to users with a translator license as stated on http://stackideas.com/forums/announcement-for-all-translators

However, your subscription would still grant you access to our products as long as the language strings are up-to-date. Should you require any professional assistance, please consider purchasing a proper license for your account.

Thanks for understanding.
